Beschreibung

The activities of the nomadic herdsmen in recent times are posing a security threat not only to lives and property, but include a direct threat to family farming in Nigeria. Most Families in the attack-ridden areas are predominantly farmers. Income generation is contingent on farming and farm produce to meet needs and sustainable livelihood. The intermittent invasion of the herdsmen on farmers across the country, without much commitment by the government is a matter of great concern to the population, and has great implications for family farming, income generation and psychological well-being of the affected families. This paper provides the analysis of the herdsmen attacks on family farming, and social workers role expectations in mediation and conflict resolution to restore family farming and economic survival in Nigeria.
