This book contains the scientific design of evaporation pond for disposal and reuse of drainage effluent. Evaporation ponds are designed to concentrate the effluents especially in landlocked areas with high evaporation rates as a least costly means of disposal. Without proper disposal of drainage effluent, environmental problems may arise which may nullify the advantages of agricultural drainage in the country. In this book the design assumptions for evaporation ponds are based on the depth of storage at the end of year (June) to provide the situation for removal of salts by scraping. The book covers wide variety of management options for disposal of saline drainage effluent like closure of pumping, reuse of drainage effluent for irrigation and their combination. The combined application of management options reduces the size of evaporation pond. The reductions in effluent volume by evaporation and sporadic removal of salts by process of scraping have been discussed. This book will be helpful to professionals and practitioners working in the area of agricultural drainage.
