This work is an indebt study of the implementation, in Igboland, of the decree of the Council of Trent on establishment of seminaries. The word shade indicates that the Council of Trent is central to this study only in so far as it was the first Council to see the need for seminaries for the formation of Catholic priests, articulate its objectives, outline the principles, and decree their implementation. The work follows up the historical development of Councils project and its adjustments to changing conditions through the years, especially as they have been brought together in the Second Vatican Councils Optatam Totius and John Paul IIs Pastores Dabo Vobis. The survey of the implementation of the project in Igboland reveals a sincere will, nonetheless some errors in interpretation of the decree, and therefore pitfalls in the implementation. This researcher uncovers how inadequate formation affects the morale of priests in pastoral ministry. In this work, he makes recommendations that will help in remedying the situation.
